Since their first meeting in 1942,Sammy Cahn and Julie Styne have turned out
one hit after another, collaborating on such beloved favorites as "Time After Time",
"Guess I'll Hang My Tears Out To Dry" and "It's Been A Long Long Time"
Note: Sammy had three sisters.The Goldberg, Greenberg and Zodi families
all lived near me. I gave private piano lessons to all the children in all
three families. I met Sammy at Thanksgiving dinner the year he won the acadamy
award for "Call Me Irresponsible". He loved the fact that I taught his nieces and nephews
to play his songs. We remained friends for many years and it was great fun
sharing stories about Sinatra, Sy Oliver, Tommy Dorsey and a few other people that we knew.

Written in 1954, this song went on to join the ranks of christmas favorites as it's lilting
melody echoes through the years in countless seasonal "specials", and in some homes
where people sing around their pianos. Wishing all a Merry Christmas in 3/4 time, we echo
it's sentiments as well.

Performed by Elvis Presley on his TV special, "Elvis" in 1969, he later recorded it on RCA.

Edgar Leslie was a prolific lyricist who collaborated with many top
songwriters including Irving Berlin, Harry Warren, andJoe Burke producing
such hits as "For Me And My Gal". "Moon Over Miami" and "The Moon Was Yellow".
His earlier work from the Ttin Pan Alley" era bore some particulatly catchy titles
including "Gin Gin Ginny Shore", "Since Maggie Dooley Learned The Hooley Hooley"
and "Ooogie, Ooogie Wa Wa". The pensive lyrics of this lovely song reflect a more somber mood.
During the years 1948 - 1962 - Ervin Drake wrote and produced some 700
prime time TV network programs, including "Sing It Again", "The Frakie
Laine Show", and the "Mel Torme' - Teresa Brewer Show". He also wrote and
produced some 40 TV specials which starred the likes of Ethel Merman, Julie
Andrews, Ginger Rogers, Nat King Cole and Grace Kelly to name just a
few. His career as a songwriter / lyricist was equally impressive, highlighted
by such classic standards as "I Believe", "Across The Wide Missouri" and "Al Di La."
The English lyric to this lovely French song is the result of a long standing
collaboration between American lyricists Al Kasha and Joel Hirschorn
and Charles Aznavour who wrote the original French lyric. Kasha
and Hirschorn also wrote the musical score for the 1977 film
"Pete's Dragon" which featured the song "Candle On The Water" an
Oscar Nominee for that year.
Recorded as a single in 1968, this tune was in the top ten on the charts for
10 weeks. It was later included in the 1969 Gold album "Best Of The Bee Gees."
Introduced in the Bee Gees 1970 album, "Cucumber Castle", this song was
remembered, not forgotten, in 1973 when it was included in the collection
"Best Of The Bee Gees, Volume 2" as well.
